"My wife and I came here, as we'll soon be moving to SnoRidge and will want a omelet & hash brown mainstay to walk to on the weekends. Breakfast here totally rocks...and the coffee is very good. The latter is a critical detail, in my experience. I can't comment on lunch and dinner because I haven't tried it at that time yet...but the staff is friendly and the service was good for how busy they were on the morning of Super Bowl Sunday, an unofficial American holiday. We sat right across from the gas fireplace; our vantage point was identical to what you see in the holiday photo. The breakfast menu and quality here echoes places like The Cheesecake Factory chain or The Kneadery in Sun Valley, which is my benchmark for breakfast joints with good coffee. Most of the choice breakfast spots east of Seattle either have crap for coffee (Chace's, Li'l Johns, 12th Ave Cafe) or there's always lines out the door wherever you go (anywhere in Kirkland). I had the corned beef hash omelet, which was excellent. My wife designed her own spinach/veggie omelet extravaganza and really enjoyed it. As a vegan-ish type, this is one of the places where I will cheat and get my beef fix. I was given the option of pancakes over toast, which totally met my approval. The atmosphere was pleasant, even though the place was completely full. There's enough space between the tables so you won't be annoyed by other parties. They have the bar section walled off, so if there's noisy hooligans watching a ball game and tossing a couple back, you won't really know they're there if you want to keep to yourself in the dining section. So families are welcome...and not only do they have crayons for the kids, but it looks like they have an appreciation for "kiddie art," as they take selected "pieces" drawn up by their young customers and frame them on the wall. That's a nice touch for showing customer appreciation to keep 'em coming back...but they don't need any hooks. The quality of the breakfast is worth coming back for! Oh, did I mention the coffee is good?" Johnny G. "My husband and I were out running errands and wanted to find somewhere to find a quick bite. Hadn't been to the Ridge in a while, so drove by to see what restaurants were there now. Saw Mabel's on the Ridge and decided to give it a try. I have to say, our overall experience was very pleasant! It was a cold and rainy day and the temperature in the restaurant was warm and cozy. We are always cold in restaurants, so this was a huge plus for us. Found out when we were seated that the health inspector had given them a perfect score, which is ALWAYS good to hear! Since we weren't super hungry, we went for the happy hour menu and ordered a basket of fries, calimari and buffalo wings. All three did the trick! No complaints at all. Service was perfect! We never had an empty ice water or soda glass , and the waiter stopped by numerous times to check in. We both felt like the portion sizes were very generous as well. We met the owner when we were there and he also checked in with us. We both felt it was great to have an owner truly care about what his customers were thinking. He is obviously trying very hard to create a nice atmosphere and we both think he succeeded tonight. It will be our pleasure to come back and try more of the menu!" Jenn P. "We recently went into Mabel's for dinner one night and for lunch later in the week. The new menu is great! The kids loved the food, and both my wife and I really enjoyed everything we tried. We had been there prior to the menu change, and while it was good, the new changes are on the money. Prices are really fair and the staff is super courteous and friendly. I love having a great local place with good food and a predictable experience. If you're in the neighborhood, check them out." John B. "Great food!!!! Great service!!! We stayed at the Salish lodge and went to eat here.... Saved money and had a great time! Definitely would recommend!" Wilber S. "Finally we have found a local restaurant I can say we love. Amazing service, great food fantastic halibut, fish n chips, chicken wings , n drinks. Pasta penne was tasty too. Comfortable for the whole family! Try it!" C. "Great food, great service and Josh, the owner, is very personable and friendly. Makes us feel like we are part of his family. My wife and I think it is the best restaurant in the whole valley. The rib steak is excellent. Jim & Linda "Excellent family restaurant, but also great for adults who want to enjoy a glass of wine or a drink. Food is insanely good! Service is excellent!!!! I have found a new restaurant to take friends and family to celebrate or to have the best burger I have had in a long time." Nelly R. . |
